It’s finally Friday! I’m really looking forward to the weekend and the Culture Shock Show on Saturday! My staple weekend attire is skinny jeans, a cute blouse and pumps. Black and leopard is such a classic color combination and never goes out of style. I love my Nine West leopard pumps and get compliments on them all the time. I have a few of the Pleione blouses from Nordstrom in various colors since I wear them during the workweek or jazz them up for the weekend.

Now that it is October I am living in layers and thanks to the rainy weather I’ve been wearing my olive Hunter rain boots quite frequently. I own a few chambray tops since they are so comfortable and go with almost any outfit. One of my favorite chambray tops is this over-sized boyfriend top from Old Navy. Another staple in my closet is my olive Barbour vest that I purchased last fall.
I’m mad for plaid and anything flannel! I live in flannel pretty much the entire fall and winter and this red and navy plaid flannel dress from Francesca’s is only $44. Madewell also has a really cute plaid dress to check out. My new obsession is my rose quartz bracelet from Two Cumberland! Two Cumberland is a unique southern boutique offering a variety of products from affordable and fashionable clothing, to gifts, jewelry and home goods in Charleston, South Carolina.

As a Virginia Tech Hokie, I love the maroon effect. Any shade of maroon is my go to fall color because it goes well with my complexion. I bought both the Exclusive for Intermix cut out back trench silk dress and Sam Edelman booties earlier this summer when I visited my sister in New York City. We went shopping in Soho and I waited until the summer changed to fall to wear this silk dress and booties. Now the Exclusive for Intermix dress is on sale for $200!

Blake Lively is my woman crush. She is gorgeous, talented, an amazing baker, has an enviable fashion sense and seems like the sweetest person ever. During Blake’s pregnancy she looked better than I do every day. 🙂 I’m obsessed with the oversized trench from artisan Lindsey Thornburg she wore during her pregnancy. The trench was previously sold on Blake’s Preserve website, which she is actually taking down unfortunately.
I’m so excited, I was nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Marisa from Pieced Together! If you don’t know, the Liebster Award is given to bloggers by other bloggers to promote and give exposure to newer blogs. I think it’s a really supportive idea and an example of how welcoming the blogging community is. I love Marisa’s style and her fashion blog Pieced Together, so I feel really special that she nominated me. The questions Marisa asked were:

Hi all, I know today is Monday and you assume it’s going to suck, but according to statistics, there will be over 5,000 weddings, 10,000 childbirths and 42 million hugs occurring today through the United States. Also, today there will be at least 4 people that will win the multimillion dollar lotteries, 600 people will get promotions at work and 3,000 people will lose their virginity. There will also be 600 dogs adopted, 35,000 balloons sold and 800,000 skittles sold. Plus the words “I love you” will be said over 9 million times. So, again I know today is Monday and you assume it’s going to suck but just smile because according to statistics, it should actually be a really nice day! 🙂

As we head into October, I thought it would be nice to go back to basics and focus on Fall fashion essentials. Layering is key as the weather starts to get chillier – I usually start with JCrew’s button down boyfriend shirts, skinny jeans, and booties, and add on with vests, light jackets and scarves as the season changes. I’ve never owned a cape before and one of my Fall Fashion Goals was to find a cape that I love! I just purchased the Ily Couture navy cape yesterday and cannot wait for it to come in the mail!

I cannot believe it is already October! It definitely feels like fall and I am so excited to pull out the fall winter boots, sweaters and scarves. This post is a bit of an extension from my Fall Fashion Goals post and I want to focus on this outfit that I’m obsessed with and my continuous exploration of Atlanta! I got this blush, cream and grey 2 Three 4 dress from Intermix and my splurge from the summer was this Stella McCartney bag.
