    Nashville

The first weekend of May I went to Nashville for my bachelorette party with a group of my best friends and my two younger sisters.  My two sisters (pretty much my middle sister) planned the most amazing bachelorette party weekend for me.  I had never been to Nashville before and wanted to spend my bachelorette weekend at a city I had never been to.  It was a toss-up between Austin and Nashville, since I’d heard so many wonderful things about both cities, but I ended up deciding on Nashville.  After visiting Nashville, I can see why everyone is obsessed with the city…I loved it and would move there in a heartbeat.  Read more

    Bridal Shower

Two weeks ago I went home to Virginia for my first bridal gown fitting at Hitched Salon (the cutest boutique bridal store ever) in Georgetown and on Saturday my mother and two sisters hosted the most beautiful bridal shower for me!  My two younger sisters and I have always been extremely close our entire lives, which is rare since we are all girls and very close in age.  My sisters are both my Maid’s of Honor and they have gone above and beyond the call of duty.  The bridal shower was just perfect.  My mom and sisters stuck to my weddings colors for the shower: pink, blush and gold. Pippin Hill Wedding Menu Tasting

    • Shop the Look Above: Utility Jacket: J Crew // Flannel Top: Rails // Jeans: Ann Taylor Loft // Booties: DSW

Jeremy and I went to Charlottesville, Virginia a few weekends ago to meet a bunch of our wedding vendors.  I had my hair and makeup trial in the morning, then we went to Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards for our wedding menu tasting and last (but not least) we had our cake tasting with Mahlia Creations.  Jeremy and I always knew we wanted to get married at Pippin Hill.  We spent so much time there when Jeremy was completing his MBA at Darden in Charlottesville.  It wasn’t until we got engaged and I wanted to book Pippin Hill for our wedding venue, that I realized how extremely popular Pippin Hill is.  Bride’s Magazine listed Pippin Hill as one of the top 50 most beautiful wedding venues in the U.S.  I mean, obviously I’m a little biased, but I agree with Brides Magazine!  Pippin Hill is absolutely gorgeous.  We got engaged in December 2014 and I booked Pippin Hill in February 2015. By the time I had booked our June 2016 wedding date (only 2 months after we had gotten engaged) we had booked the last Saturday in spring/summer 2016!  I mean that is just insane!  Pippin Hill is not only a breathtaking venue, the food is superb.   Read more

    Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial

This past weekend my fiancé and I went to Charlottesville, Virginia to meet our wedding vendors since our wedding is in 3 months!  I cannot believe how quickly time has flown.  We got engaged in December 2014 and I always felt like our June 2016 wedding was so far away, but now it is almost here!  On Friday morning I had my hair and makeup trial with my hair stylist and makeup artist.  I had never met Brianna Adams my hair stylist, or Gohar Beaver my makeup artist, previously so I was super excited to meet them!  I booked both Brianna and Gohar a long time ago without even meeting them, or doing a hair and makeup trial, because they are extremely popular in Charlottesville and I wanted to have them for my wedding.  They also frequently work together with my wedding planner Cody Grannis for other Charlottesville weddings or styled shoots and both have amazing reviews on my favorite wedding website, Borrowed and Blue.   Read more

Wedding Paper Divas Wedding Planning Tips

I used Wedding Paper Divas to send out my save the dates.  Wedding Paper Divas is the best online stationary company and has save the dates, bridal shower invitations, wedding invitations, thank you cards and pretty much anything wedding related you would need.  I recently found out that Wedding Paper Divas has a 12-month wedding planning timeline as well!  Their wedding planning timeline is actually really useful because it breaks out the major things you need to do up-front and then what you need to do, as it gets closer to your wedding.  Some topics in the timeline are similar to my suggestions in my prior post “Wedding Planning Tips.”  However, now that I’m getting close to our wedding (only 3 months away) most of my weekend is making sure I’m checking off all the small things I need to do.  It’s the small things that are such a pain.  Some of the major takeaways from Wedding Paper Divas’ 12-month wedding timeline are: Read more

I do not claim to be wedding planning expert.  Reach out to my amazing wedding planner, Cody Grannis, or get inspiration from Style Me Pretty, the ultimate wedding blog, for the professional expertise.  However, wedding planning can be really stressful and a daunting task for many girls, but I’ve had quite the opposite experience.  I’ve loved planning my wedding and as much as I cannot wait to marry my fiancé in June, I’m sad I’m running out of things to plan (less than 5 months to go)!  🙂  I never had a Pinterest board of my “dream wedding” before I got engaged, which is really unbelievable since I’m the biggest girly girl and planner.  I always wanted to get married to my fiancé and of course I knew it would happen one day, but I never had actually planned out ideas for my future wedding before I got engaged.  But, I’m super OCD and a detail-oriented person.  I love fashion and interior design, but I don’t follow trends.  I know what I like and what I want, and that’s how I approached planning my wedding. Here are some tips and resources that may help you on your wedding planning journey…

Hey all!  Hope everyone is having a nice week!  I read an article in February’s Cosmopolitan talking about job happiness and how you can be happier at any job.  Caroline Webb, an expert in behavioral science has worked to increase job satisfaction for hundreds of employees in a wide variety of jobs.  She’s outlined her tips in her new book ‘How to Have a Good Day.’ Caroline Webb’s theory is that good days don’t just happen – they’re made.  Everyone has ups and downs at their job, myself included.  However, I’ve tried to be really positive on a daily basis and I’m much happier at my job than I used to be.  Caroline’s tips to be happier at any job are:  Read more

I cannot believe Christmas is already over!  Time flies!  My fiancé and I didn’t get to Virginia until around 4pm on Christmas Eve.  Our flight was supposed to leave Atlanta at 9am on Christmas Eve morning, but our flight didn’t depart from Atlanta until 2:30pm due to the crazy thunderstorms in Atlanta.  Luckily we made it home in time for Christmas Eve dinner with my Mom’s side of the family.  My family traditions include having Christmas Eve dinner with my Mom and her side of the family and on Christmas morning I spend it with my Mom and sisters.  Christmas afternoon we head over to my Dad’s house and spend Christmas afternoon/evening with my Dad, Stepmom, Stepbrothers, Stepsisters and two nieces.   Read more

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from my family to yours!  Every family has their own Christmas/holiday traditions.  This was the first year my fiancé and I had to travel to visit family since we no longer live in Virginia.  We went to Hilton Head for a couple of days before Christmas to spend an early Christmas with Jeremy’s Mom, Stepdad and sister.  My fiancé’s Mom and Stepdad used to live in Virginia and retired and moved to Hilton Head last winter.  On Christmas Eve morning we flew out to Virginia to see my family. We always spend Christmas Eve with my Mom’s side of the family.  My Mom comes from a large family and they all live in northern Virginia.  My Mom has 5 brothers and sisters (my aunts and uncles) and almost all of them have kids (my cousins).  When we were younger we’d spend Christmas Eve at my Grandmother’s house, but the last couple of years my Mom has hosted it.  I love my crazy, large family.
