Saturday September 17 was Demi and Nick’s wedding day! They got married at 5pm at the Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Virginia. Demi, my husband, and their other sister Molly lived in Roanoke when they were younger. My father-in-law was a headmaster at a private Roanoke Catholic school. Nick grew up in Roanoke as well, which 1. Is such a small world and 2. Crazy that Nick and Demi never ran into each other when they were little. For the wedding, the bridesmaids wore blush Amsale gowns and the groomsmen wore tuxedos. The wedding ceremony was extremely touching. I cried when Demi walked down the aisle with her grandfather. She looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress. After the wedding ceremony, an old fashioned trolley transported the wedding guests from the Church to the reception at the Patrick Henry Hotel.
The Patrick Henry Hotel is a Colonial Revival former hotel listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register in downtown Roanoke. The Patrick Henry is a mixed use building, with both residential and commercial components. Demi and Nick’s wedding reception was in the Ballroom, which has been restored to its original grandeur and is made available for public use, primarily weddings. Demi did such an amazing job planning her wedding. Her wedding reception was elegant and timeless. The dress code was black-tie-optional because classic never goes out of style. 🙂 Since the dress code was black-tie-optional, I splurged and rented a pink Monique Lhuillier gown from Rent the Runway.
My husband and I had such a wonderful weekend filled with love, laughter and family. We loved spending time with his parents, extended family, and of course the beautiful bride and groom at both their wedding rehearsal Friday night and their wedding day on Saturday. We are so blessed to have such an amazing family and friends.
xx,
Lauren
