I’m on the Executive Committee for PurSHOEing Justice, a local Atlanta fundraising event coming up in 2 weeks. PurSHOEing Justice benefits the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation’s (‘AVLF’) Safe Families Office, a local non-profit organization, which helps more than 1,800 survivors of intimate partner violence each year. This fabulous event is designed to raise awareness around the legal issues facing domestic violence survivors, their families, and the volunteers and programs who help them. The event will be held on Wednesday February 8, 2017 at King & Spalding in Midtown Atlanta.
PurSHOEing Justice
Since my husband and I moved to Atlanta in 2016, my first time attending PurSHOEing Justice was last year. The event and organization inspired me. During college I volunteered at a women’s shelter for a short period, which was such an eye opening experience. PurSHOEing Justice is a great event with food, drinks, music and silent auction items. It’s also a great networking event since influential Atlanta attorney attend the event. Last year there were over 200 attorneys that attend and this year we expect a larger attendance.
After PurSHOEing Justice 2016, I really wanted to get involved, so a 3 other of my coworkers and I joined the committee. The committee members and I have been working with local Atlanta organizations and larger corporations for sponsorships and donations. At the 2016 event, the auction raised more than $10,000. This year we’re aiming even higher. The evening’s crown jewel is a silent auction of designer shoes and handbags.
