California Wine Country

Over Memorial Day weekend I flew out to the west coast to visit one of my best friends, Katie, in San Francisco. San Francisco is one of my favorite cities. If it wasn’t so expensive, I would love to live there with my husband. On Sunday Katie and I ventured out to wine country. Napa was having its annual ‘BottleRock‘ music festival, so we went wine tasting in Sonoma instead of dealing with the craziness in Napa.

California Wine Country

One of my favorite Sex and the City quotes is when Carrie says to Mr. Big, ‘if you’re tired you take a nap-a, you don’t move to Napa.’ 🙂 Although I have to say, California wine country is one of the most beautiful places. I’ve been to Napa a bunch of times, but never spent much time in Sonoma. So, I’m glad that BottleRock was going on Memorial Day weekend because Katie and I got to explore new wineries in Sonoma.

Sonoma

The traffic was pretty bad getting out of San Francisco (obviously because it was Memorial Day weekend). So, we didn’t get to Sonoma until around lunch time and grabbed sandwiches at Sonoma Market. I got the best Italian sandwich and we ate outside. After lunch we walked around the downtown Sonoma square for a bit. The weather was beautiful so plenty of families were having picnics in Sonoma Square park.

Since the weather was so nice, I was in the mood for sparkling wine. Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards is known for their sparkling wine and was named Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine. I tried a flight of three different sparkling wines, from the most dry to the most sweet. I typically like dry sparkling wines, so the first one was my favorite. The last wine was way too sweet for me. The view of the vineyards and the mountains is spectacular at Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards.

After spending most of our day at Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards, we didn’t have time to travel far. So, we went next door (about a 5 minute drive) to Cline Cellars. After loving Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards so much, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Cline Cellars was beautiful as well. The best part was the wine tasting was free – and I got to try 5 different wines! Obviously, they hope you will buy a bottle, but it is still a great deal. Plus, Cline Cellars is open until 6pm, whereas most wineries close at 5pm. After we finished wine tasting at Cline Cellars we headed back to South San Francisco.

Admiral Row

While wine tasting I wore my Goodnight Maroon dress and layered with my Ann Taylor blush jacket. My new favorite accessory is my dainty Admiral Row ‘Gold Pave Curved Bar Necklace.’ Admiral Row is a local Atlanta company that was started by a husband and wife team. I love all their accessories. Their mission is to provide affordable accessories that let you stand out from the crowd. ‘Anyone can wear the outfit—but, it’s how you accessorize that makes the statement.’ All of Admiral Row’s new pieces are amazing and with code ‘lauren20’ you can get 20% off from today until June 23!

xx,

Lauren
