Holiday Traditions

I cannot believe Christmas is already over!  Time flies!  My fiancé and I didn’t get to Virginia until around 4pm on Christmas Eve.  Our flight was supposed to leave Atlanta at 9am on Christmas Eve morning, but our flight didn’t depart from Atlanta until 2:30pm due to the crazy thunderstorms in Atlanta.  Luckily we made it home in time for Christmas Eve dinner with my Mom’s side of the family.  My family traditions include having Christmas Eve dinner with my Mom and her side of the family and on Christmas morning I spend it with my Mom and sisters.  Christmas afternoon we head over to my Dad’s house and spend Christmas afternoon/evening with my Dad, Stepmom, Stepbrothers, Stepsisters and two nieces.

True to holiday tradition, my Mom cooked Christmas Eve dinner and had her side of the family over.  My family loves Trivial Pursuit (especially my Mom) and we always end up playing it on Christmas Eve.  This year was no different.  My Mom gets super competitive while playing Trivial Pursuit and it’s hilarious.  She’s also extremely smart (annoyingly so) and my two sisters and I tell her she needs to apply for Jeopardy because she watches it religiously every day and knows all the answers.  Then on Christmas morning, my sister, fiancé, Mom and I all opened presents and had breakfast together.  Then around lunchtime we headed over to my Dad and Stepmom’s house to open presents and spend time with my stepbrothers, step sisters and two little nieces.

Christmas Eve and Christmas were perfect except for the fact my middle sister couldn’t make it home for the holidays.  She lives in NYC and had to work on Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas so couldn’t make it down to Virginia.  I’m glad she had her boyfriend and his family to spend time with, but I still missed her so much.  Hopefully I’ll get to visit her soon.  Hope everyone else had a lovely holiday weekend.

xx,

Lauren
