Atlanta Botanical Garden

My mom came to visit Atlanta this past weekend.  It was her first time visiting since my husband and I moved to Atlanta last summer. Since the weather in Atlanta was beautiful I planned outdoor activities for the weekend.  On Saturday my mom and I walked around Piedmont Park and caught the end of the farmer’s market. I took my mom to the Piedmont Park pond and then to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.  The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a 30 acre botanical garden located adjacent to Piedmont Park.  Since my mom loves gardening, I knew she’d love visiting the gardens.

Chihuly in the Garden

Currently the Atlanta Botanical Garden has a popular exhibit featuring the internationally acclaimed artist, Dale Chihuly.  Dale Chihuly is an American glass sculptor and his works are considered unique to the field of blown glass. The exhibit at the Atlanta Botanical Garden is titled “Chihuly in the Garden.” The exhibit includes 19 glass installations set amongst the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s natural beauty.

Rest of the Weekend

Then, for the rest of the weekend we relaxed and spent time together.  Saturday night we ordered takeout and watched the World Series.  Sunday we went shopping and she flew out Monday morning.  I miss being so close to my Mom, but I love living in Atlanta.  I don’t see us moving back home anytime soon.

xx,
Lauren

Cool, sounds like you showed your mom a good time! I know I will never move back home. I love Atlanta, I grew up in Saint louis. Nice post! Piedmont park and the botanical gardens are great stops for visitors.

Thank you! Yes, she loved Atlanta! Now she gets why we don’t want to move home. 🙂
