Virginia Wine Tasting // Bachelorette Party Festivities

Last weekend I traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia to celebrate my friend Melissa’s bachelorette party. I’ve known Melissa forever and she’s one of the sweetest people I know. We went to high school and to college together. Then after college we lived together in Arlington, Virginia. I wanted to wear this new white eyelet dress wine tasting, but I ended up wearing jeans and layering because it was so cold. But despite the weather, we still had a fabulous weekend.

Cinco de Mayo

Since Charlottesville is a smaller city, there is only about 1 flight a day nonstop from Atlanta. Therefore, I didn’t land until around 3pm on Friday. Melissa and the majority of the bachelorette party live in Northern Virginia, so they only had to drive about 2 hours to get to Charlottesville. So on Friday they went to Trump Winery and Blenheim Vineyards, which is owned by Dave Matthews. My other best friend Katie, who lives in San Francisco, got to Charlottesville about the same time I did.  So, Katie and I caught up at the Airbnb house that we stayed at for the weekend.

After Melissa and everyone else got back from Blenheim Vineyards, we showered Melissa with her bachelorette party presents. I got Melissa these Nordstrom pajamas and a trinket dish for her engagement ring and wedding ring. For dinner we had locally sourced Southern fare at Maya downtown. After dinner we grabbed a drink for Cinco de Mayo at the Commonwealth Skybar rooftop.

Saturday

Saturday we had a bus chauffeur us around the Charlottesville vineyards. We stopped at Pippin Hill first, which is where I got married almost a year ago now. I cannot believe how quickly time flies by! My wedding planner, Cody Grannis, from Amore Events by Cody, was preparing for another wedding that Saturday so I got to see her. Not only was Cody my wedding planner, she also became my friend. After Pippin Hill we went to King Family Vineyards. At King Family Vineyards we had a private tasting and then hung out for a while. Saturday evening we had dinner at the Farmhouse at Veritas. We had a private room with a four course meal and wine pairing.

Sunday

Sunday we said our goodbyes. Luckily I’ll get to see Melissa and my other friends in June to celebrate her wedding in Leeseburg, Virginia.

xx,

Lauren
