As I’ve recapped in prior years (see 2015 and 2016) Christmas is my favorite holiday to spend with my family. I flew home to Virginia on December 23 and spent four days with my family. Christmas Eve is our big night with my mom’s side of the family. My mom is one of 6 siblings and all my aunts, uncles and cousins live in Northern, Virginia. My grandmother used to host Christmas Eve dinner. However, the last couple of years my mom has hosted since my grandmother now lives full time in Florida. Then, Christmas day we spend the morning with my mom opening our stockings and presents. Then we spend the afternoon and have dinner with my dad and step-family.
Holidays in Virginia
This year Jeremy and I separated for Christmas. He flew up north to Blue Hill, Maine and then to Cape Cod, Massachusetts to spend Christmas with his father and grandfather. It was our first time being apart for the holidays in a long time. But, we both really took advantage of the time we had with our families since we don’t get to see them that often. My middle sister came in town from upstate New York and my youngest sisters lives in Arlington, Virginia. My mom and my sisters are my best friends and I cherish the moments I have with them. However, unfortunately, the holidays always fly by too fast. I flew home to Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday December 27. I was really sad to leave my Mom and sisters, but we had a great couple of days together. Jeremy and I drive to Hilton Head, South Carolina today to spend the rest of December and through the New Year with his mom, step-dad, sister, step-sister and brother-in-law. Hope everyone had a merry Christmas with their loved ones!
xoxo,
Lauren
