I feel like I’m a constant nomad, but in a good way. After I got back from Fort Laurderale with my Mom and sisters I flew to DC for a girls weekend. My best friend Jess was having a big blow out bash for her 30th birthday. She actually just moved to Chicago, but wanted to have her birthday in DC since most of our friends and her family are on the East coast. Jess was one of my bridesmaids and is one of my best friends so I couldn’t miss birthday her celebration.

Friday July 7

The one perk of my husband traveling all the time is that he racks up on both hotel and airline points. As much as I miss him during the week, I do enjoy getting pampered. For the weekend my husband booked me a suite at the St. Regis, which is in the heart of DC and is walking distance to the White House, museums and monuments. After checking into the St. Regis I grabbed lunch and spent the afternoon at the National Portrait Gallery. Currently there is an exhibit featuring John F Kennedy’s life in pictures, which I highly recommend. Friday evening I met my three college roommates for dinner at Graffiato, an Italian restaurant near Chinatown. I love catching up with them. In September we’re heading to Charleston together.

Saturday July 8

On Saturday I grabbed lunch with my friend Melissa, who’s wedding I just attended two weekends ago at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia. We grabbed brunch at Founding Farmers, one of my favorite restaurants in DC and then after I went shopping in Georgetown for the afternoon. Saturday night was Jess’s birthday celebration. She rented out a space at the Hawthorne, a rustic 4-story bar in U Street. Not only did her local friends come, but her family and other friends flew in to celebrate. Jess had about 80 people come to her birthday. She’s such a sweet person and a great friend, so I wasn’t that surprised by the amazing turnout. Needless to say I had a grand old time catching up with Jess, my other friends and her family.

Sunday I flew home. It was a quick trip but worth it! Next stop – San Diego! My husband fly out on Thursday July 13 to San Diego for the weekend. I cannot wait to have some quality time with my husband!

xx,

Lauren
