Spring is here and so are the spring shoe trends that will completely change your outfit! Every woman loves a good reason to go shopping and the turning of a new season is just as good of an excuse as anything else!  While the spring clothing trends are definitely an exciting topic, today I’m going to focus on the footwear because spring 2016 has some really fabulous shoe trends that can’t go without their own post!

After all, Marilyn Monroe once said, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.”  So just in case you needed one more excuse to justify a day of spring shoe shopping, remind yourself that you’re just preparing to conquer the world!  So, what are the biggest shoe trends this season?  Well, I’ll give you a hint: each one is sure to transform any outfit of yours.  Even if you don’t get the chance to purchase some new spring clothes, you can at least rest assured knowing that an investment in footwear will make your old threads look brand new.  What do I mean?  Keep reading to find out.

First, there are slipper shoes.  They are essentially exactly what they sound like—they slip on easily and have no back.  They’re flat.  But instead of the furry Disney-themed slippers you might remember from your childhood, fashion slippers are a lot sleeker these days.  Like the pair in Bustle, they can come in dainty, perforated versions. Talk about a comfy shoe to wear in warm weather!

Then, there is the bootie trend that has adapted from fall and winter, bringing us season-appropriate styles we can’t say no to. A little bit of a welcome throwback, another big shoe trend is the slingback open-toe bootie like those featured on Lyst.  With a thick heel, these are a great choice if you want to add some height but don’t want to go full stiletto.

I told you these footwear picks would transform your outfit, and if you have yet to believe me, you’ve got to see the Dolce & Gabbana mules seen at Fashionista.  They almost look like they could be a kindergartener’s art project, what with the funky pom-poms and ornate details, but these shoes are a great peek into what to expect for spring/summer footwear fashion.  If your spring wardrobe needs a little spunk, I think colorful sandals like these will definitely do the trick.

And last but not least, the gladiator lace-up styles that are sweeping the fashion scene one fashionista at a time.  Knee-high gladiator sandals made an appearance last year, but not everyone was ready to don the bold shoes.  Now, following a winter full of thigh-high boots, fashion lovers are eager to wear tall lace-up styles for spring.  The big appeal with lace-up shoes is the fact that they are intricate yet feminine—they really highlight the shapes of your legs and elongate them.  Tall sandals are also a great way to balance out a too-short romper.

Which of these spring shoe trends will you be sporting this season?  Cannot wait to hear some of your great ideas!

xx,

Lauren
