Island Life

I wish I could live on Hilton Head Island permanently.  Island life is the best.  My fiancé’s mom and step-dad live in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood.  It is a private, coastal neighborhood, so most of the houses are oceanfront or bayside.  Their house is on the water.  I love sitting out on their dock and watching the boats go by, or a dolphin or two, if I’m lucky.  All the houses in their neighborhood have distinct architecture and the trees are lined with Spanish moss.  During my visit, I felt like I was starring in a Nicholas Sparks’ romantic novel or film.

We left early from Atlanta and drove to Hilton Head on Thanksgiving.  We got to their house around lunch time.  I did not pack appropriately for the weather.  The week before Thanksgiving, there was a serious cold front in Atlanta and I was wearing my ultra warm down jacket.  So, I assumed it would still be a little chilly in Hilton Head on the water.  But Hilton Head was in the high 70’s for Thanksgiving and the weekend.  So, it definitely didn’t feel like a typical Thanksgiving, weather-wise.  I’m used to the cold weather in Virginia.  So we went shopping on Black Friday.  I got this white short-sleeved blouse from the Banana Republic outlet.  My white petite skinny jeans from Ann Taylor I got this past summer are now on sale for only $30!  If you need a pair of white skinny jeans, check these Ann Taylor ones out!

Saturday night was our last night in Hilton Head.  We took a walk around the neighborhood and a walk on the beach before dinner.  Then we had dinner with family and went to bed early.  We left Sunday morning to head back to Atlanta.  We were sad to leave, but we’ll be back in about 3 weeks to visit for the week before Christmas.  The time will fly by in no time…plus I need to start Christmas shopping for everyone and I have no idea what to get them…

xx,
Lauren
