San Francisco & Napa

For Mother’s Day I went to San Francisco for a girls weekend. My friend Katie lives in South San Francisco and had a baby in January. So, my friend Melissa and I met in San Francisco for the weekend to see Katie and meet her new baby boy, Tripp. Katie, Melissa and I used to be roommates in Arlington, Virginia and now all live in different states. Melissa still lives in Arlington, Virginia so I’m able to see her when I go home to visit my family. But, since Katie lives so far away, we try to see one another at least once a year. Last year I visited Katie for Memorial Day.

South San Francisco & Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour

On Friday Melissa and I both took early morning flights and arrived in San Francisco around lunch time. Katie picked us up with baby Tripp and we grabbed a late lunch at Cafe 382 in South San Francisco close to where Katie lives. After lunch we went grocery shopping for dinner and for our Taylor Swift tailgate on Saturday. Friday night Melissa and I were exhausted since we were still on east coast time and passed out early.

Saturday morning Katie, Melissa, Tripp and I met my sorority sister and good friend Meredith for brunch at Cafe St. Jorge in Bernal Heights San Francisco. Meredith  was one of my best friends in college and I miss seeing her more. But it’s nice to have friends where you can pick up right where you left off. She’s one of the nicest and funniest people I know. After brunch Katie had to take Tripp home, but Meredith, Melissa and I hiked up to Billy Goat Hill which has an amazing view of the city. Saturday night Katie, Melissa, Melissa’s friend Amanda who lives in Oakland and I went to see Taylor Swift for her Reputation tour at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Melissa and I saw Taylor Swift a few years ago in Washington D.C. for her 1989 tour. She’s amazing in concert and did not disappoint. She’s coming to Atlanta on August 10 and 11, so I strongly suggest any locals to see her!

Mother’s Day

For Katie’s first Mother’s Day we went to Napa Valley. Melissa and I got a rental car and headed out first thing in the morning to beat traffic. We dropped off our stuff at our hotel, the River Terrace Inn near downtown Napa, and grabbed brunch at the Napa General Store. Then, we took a cab 20 minutes out from downtown Napa to where all the wineries are. Melissa and I first started our wine tasting at Alpha Omega Winery, which is $50 for a tasting (quite expense) but the atmosphere is beautiful and the wine is worth the money. Next time I’m in Napa I’m going to bring Jeremy to this winery and purchase some to take home.  After we finished our tasting Melissa’s friend Amanda met us and we relaxed at the winery.

After Alpha Omega Winery, Melissa, Amanda and I met Amanda’s boyfriend, Katie, Katie’s husband Bryant and baby Tripp at Domaine Chandon for some sparkling wine for Mother’s Day. We spent the afternoon hanging out. Then, Amanda’s boyfriend headed out and Katie and her family had to go home to put Tripp to bed. So, Melissa, Amanda and I had dinner at Farmstead, a farm-to-table restaurant located at the Long Meadow Ranch Winery. After dinner we drove around, enjoyed the sunset and the beautiful Napa landscape. Then, we checked back into our River Terrace Inn hotel and called it an early night.

Napa Valley

On Monday Melissa, Amanda and I started wine tasting early at Mumm Winery, another sparkling winery. Mumm is affordable and you can purchase many of their wines in local grocery stores and wine shops. After Mumm we had brunch at Goose & Gander in downtown St. Helena. Then, we drove around until we found a winery that looked cool and so we stumbled upon Del Dotto Vineyards. Del Dotto Vineyards is famous for their wine cave tours. We didn’t have time to do a tour. But, our wine sommelier was so sweet and showed us a sneak peak. After Del Dotto we had to head back to South San Francisco to drop off our rental car. Melissa and I met Katie for dinner for our last night at Farm and Vine Bistro in Burlingame. Then, Katie drove us around the beautiful neighborhoods of Burlingame. Tuesday morning Melissa and I headed to the airport super early. It was such a nice long weekend with good friends. Jeremy’s never been to Napa Valley so at some point we’re going to need to make a couples trip.

xx,

Lauren
