My Mom turned 60 in June, so my two younger sisters and I wanted to plan something big for her.  Over the July 4 holiday weekend, we treated my Mom to a girls weekend to Fort Lauderdale. My Mom’s one request was to be able to relax at the beach and spend time together, so Fort Lauderdale was a great spot to do that. It’s more low key than Miami, but there is still a lot going on, especially during the holiday weekend.

July 4 Holiday Weekend

We stayed Saturday July 1 to Wednesday July 5 at the W Fort Lauderdale. Fort Lauderdale was an ideal place to meet, as flights are frequent and affordable. I flew in from Atlanta, my middle Alissa sister flew in from New York and my Mom and youngest sister Caylen flew in from Virginia. On Saturday July 1 we didn’t get into Fort Lauderdale until around dinner time, so we checked into our hotel room at the W and grabbed dinner. On Sunday morning we met a guide who took us paddle-boarding and snorkeling in the ocean. In the coral reef we saw plenty of fish and a baby nurse shark. She swam right under me.
For most of the weekend we just relaxed at the beach and the pool. On July 4 we had dinner and watched fireworks. The Fort Lauderdale fireworks show was spectacular. Staying at the W was extremely convenient because we could walk to the beach (it was right across the street) and there were plenty of walkable restaurants and shops. Or, if we wanted to head to Las Olas Boulevard, where another strip of restaurants are, it was only about a 10 minute Uber ride away.

Holiday Weekend Attire

On Tuesday night my Mother, two sisters and I went to a lovely beachfront restaurant. I wore my new 19 Cooper coral romper and Emma & Chloe gold necklace from my June subscription box. Unfortunately my 19 Cooper coral romper is sold out online at Nordstrom, but I’ve included looks to other 19 Cooper rompers and dresses above. I also have this strapless 19 Cooper romper and will style it in a post soon.
Emma & Chloe is a jewelry company that brings you handmade jewelry designs from France’s most up-and-coming artists for just $35 a month. You answer a few questions and they will send you your piece of jewelry in the mail along with details on the piece and the artist. My first box came with the dainty gold necklace and I love how its a bit longer than some of my other necklaces. The detail is quite stunning. You can get Get $10 off your first Emma & Chloe box with code PETITE10.
I hated saying goodbye to my Mom and two sisters at the end of our trip, but I know I’ll see them soon. Hope everyone had a great July 4 holiday!
xx,
Lauren
